ASCENT AND MONKEY GAMES IN OPEN AIR
All lovers of climbing will
be satisfied from top to bottom in theValley of the Sioule. Starting
with the “adventure route” in Ebreuil, in the woods of Peyrolles : 20
platforms built around the trees and connected by cables, Tarzan’s
liana, monkey bridge and many gangplanks will allow two hours of laugh
and hard sensations for the whole family, and this under supervision of
the “Canoë Nature Club Sioule and Bouble” (CNSB). (Maximum 15 people
simultaneously). The natural sites for climbing are in Chouvigny and
overhang the Sioule : the small rock Armand contains about 10 ways
(level 4-6 beginner – medium); the Tunnel offers more than fifty ways of
12-25 meters high (level 5-7); between both, a quarry is fit out of 2
ways of high level (7B and 7C); at the other side of the river, the site
of La Grande Borde, with some narrow ways of 80 meters high, is also
reserved for initiates. To learn, the ideal is to “climb” to
Châteauneuf-les-Bains (63), where the rock Charlemagne, only shaded
site, bids more than 70 ways (level 4-7C+) with a constant high (20-25
meters). The CNSB proposes initiation and monitoring for groups (6-12
people) : half day or full day. (discount 10 % for more than 10 people).

THE SWINGING HILL
New changing rooms, new
fields and bunker drawn by a green-keeper and other improvements, the
Golf Club de Briailles (GCB), founded in 1980,
thanks to Gilles Charmat, a local master, is now removed. A lifting for
this superb golf course overhanging the city of Saint-Pourçain.
No vineyards, of course, but
nine holes (open and forested yards). Two training holes and ten
practice posts are at your disposal. Furthermore visitors will
appreciate the conviviality of the place and the team spirit of the
mates who created the golf. With reasonable fees, the GCB is ideal to
discover, under “supervision” of the host, the bases of this open-air
sport, which counts more and more followers, particularly youths.
Mentioned in all specific guides and on the internet site of the French
Federation, the greens of Saint-Pourçain receive every year from April
till September about fifteen competitions often organized with local
partners.
